It’s a question we will all utter at some point, be it hopefully or angrily. If it’s in anger, someone has probably made an inference that ties to how old we look, and they may have missed the mark by quite a large degree in the wrong direction. If it’s hopefully, then we’re eager to get a confidence boost and perhaps feel a little better about the way we look and how we are aging. Of course, that only works if we get the right answer. When you’re forty, and someone says you look mid-thirties that’s great. If you are sixty and someone says you look forty – result! But what if the worst happens?
What if when they answer they tell you exactly how old you actually are or even say you look older. It’s difficult to recover from that blow to your confidence. You start to panic, wondering whether you have let yourself go. Perhaps you are aging badly, or maybe it’s time to stop with so many late nights out.
We do have good news on this front though. You see there are little traits and details that give away your true age or may even make you look older than you are. If you know the details, the problem areas you can work on them and change your appearance completely ensuring that you do look as young as you want people to think you are. You can change things completely for the better and feel confident in the skin you’re in once more. Ah Gravity, Thou Art Heartless
It’s true, one of your biggest enemies that will give away your true age to people around you is gravity, as you can see in the clip below.
Yes, as you get older, things do start to drop down, but it’s not like you’re completely powerless to stop it. You just need to take the right steps to tone up. You can do this, quite simply with weight lifting exercises. Of course, if you want to tone up the back of your arms, you should try a beginner exercise like a tricep push back. It’s really easy, particularly if you use lower weights.
So, stand with your legs a couple feet apart and your knees bent. Hold one dumbbell in each hand by your side and lift until your arms are horizontal, straight in front of you. Try to complete this exercise ten times for three sets and once you get used to increasing the weight. Eventually, you will find that the area around your arm does tone up nicely and gravity will no longer be your foe. Of course, running will also probably have the same impact, but this is far more difficult and works out every part of the body.
What if you’re not that into exercise? Well, then you can cover up this little flaw in the right fashion. Loose tops and three/quarter length sleeves will work nicely for you. If you’re worried that it will look too obvious, dress in layers. So, if you’re actually quite proud of your tum, wear a crop top and a long coat over it, covering up your arms and showing off an area you are confident in.
Of course, if you’re not too fond of your tummy you have two options. You can either start completing some crunches every day, or you can freeze it off with fat therapy. If you’re opting for the first possibility, it’s important to note that we do mean crunches, not situps. Crunches are when you lift only about thirty degrees off the ground and then drop back down again. Basically, lift until it hurts, drop, lifts until it hurts, drop and keep doing it as long as you can. You’ll thank me when your tum looks nice and toned. A saggy belly is another telltale sign of age, but it’s really only relevant in bathing suit season. Wearing a dress, you can cover it up with good old, long stretchy pants.

The more ugly term for them is of course wrinkles, and the little lines upon your face may haunt your nightmares once you reach a certain age. Worse, they might still be there when you wake up. In fact, they probably will, so how do you cope with them?
Well, you have to understand where they are most noticeable and that’s definitely the eyes. The reason for this should be obvious. Whenever you talk to someone, they don’t look at your mouth or cheeks, they stare directly at your eyes. This is where the center of their focus is always going to be. As such, this is where the wrinkles are that you should be most worried about. So, the question then becomes, how exactly do you draw attention away from them?
Well, there are a few possibilities. You could focus on the eyebrows. It’s fashionable right now to have large, thick, dark eyebrows – although they still shouldn’t meet in the middle. So either get to work with the tweezers or use a professional and then fill them in to get eyebrows that rival Cara Delevingne.
Or, draw attention away from the wrinkles and to the eyes themselves. You can do this with white eyeliner. Used as a layer underneath typical eyeliner this can really make your eyes pop. It will ensure that people don’t even notice your wrinkles.
Of course, if you want a real solution, you could actually make the wrinkles around your eye disappear, and we’re not talking about makeup. You may not realize this, but you can actually exercise your skin in the same way that you can exercise your muscles. By doing this, you can keep the elasticity of your skin for far longer. To exercise your skin on the neck, look up, open the mouth as wide as you can and then close it. Do this ten times each day, and you’ll see a noticeable change in the level of tightness around the neck. Of course, sun exposure can also damage the skin on the neck so when you are using sunscreen, make sure you don’t miss this important area.
Finally, we do need to think about the mouth and for now, let’s focus on the teeth. Teeth do get naturally more yellow and lose their distinctive white shade as you age. This is just fact. It’s also true to say that your teeth can move out of place as you age too, leaving gaps and crossbite. This can even cause your teeth to become unhealthy and fallout, but that’s another issue for another day. For now, we want to focus on the color.
There are a couple options that you can consider which will allow you to keep your teeth looking pearly white. The first is to use a teeth whitening treatment where you essentially bleach your teeth. Do note this means your teeth can be beautifully white and completely unhealthy so make sure you continue to floss no matter how great they look. The other option is to use a natural whitening treatment which involves baking soda and lemon juice. Mixed together the formed paste is a great way to whiten your teeth.
Of course, whitening your teeth is just half the battle. You then need to get people to notice that your teeth are beautifully white and that you look youthful. The best way to do this is to accentuate your mouth with the right lipstick.
