Finding and keeping your Zen – the elusive quest of humanity searching for meaning in a world full of chaos. Finding your Zen means slowing down and breathing. It means being confident to stop in the middle of all the rush to find your sanity and experiencing the simple joys and miracles of life.
Here are seven tips that will help you keep your Zen and navigate confidently through today’s chaotic business and personal relationships.
You are in charge of your Zen, and you can achieve it at any time you want. When you find yourself drifting or knocked down mentally or emotionally, you can stop and pull the blinds shut. Close your eyes and gaze inwards.
When you close your eyes, you can see the beautiful darkness inside you that has been neglected for so long. Seeing this darkness is the first step to getting more grounded or activating your Zen.
Count to 10
When facing a stressful moment and things seem to be spinning out of control, stop and count from one to 10. This trick worked when we were little and still works today.
For an even better impact, add deep ujjayi breaths to slow down. As you count, concentrate on the numbers. Visualize the numbers in your head in 3D.
Get Silly and Laugh
The world is your oyster and playground; do something silly and laugh.
You can easily attain Zen when you are relaxed and happy. Have you ever wondered why you seemed much more content, and the world seemed a better place than it is today when you were a kid? Yes, you may have financial freedom and more material things than you did when growing up. However, where is your happiness?
You can reclaim your happiness by letting go of the cares of the world, doing something silly and laughing your belly out Laughter is good medicine, and when you are happy, your Zen will come out.
Bike or Walk Instead of Driving
You can find and keep your Zen by doing something that disrupts your everyday routine. For example, when was the last time you walked or biked to work?
Walking will stimulate your heart and improve your overall physical well-being. Apart from this, you will have a chance to take in some deep fresh breaths. If you can walk to work by passing through a route with trees or flowers, this will even be better.
When you walk, you are likely to encounter the small daily miracles of life that will stimulate your Zen. When was the time you observed a bird taking grass with its beak to build its nest? Walk. You will experience the wonders of nature and keep your Zen.
Wake Up Early
The morning hours are the quietest, most peaceful, and perfect for finding “your time.” Taking a few minutes to reflect upon your life, accomplishments, and happiness helps to set the tone for the day.
Set the alarm clock at least 30 minutes earlier than your usual wake-up time to dedicate some time for your Zen. This should be a time for you to reflect and be thankful for life. You can start keeping a journal to record things that you are grateful for every morning. Apart from this, you can start meditating and working out.
During the day, you will be occupied with tasks that suck out energy and attention from your inner self. Therefore, it is only right that you have some “alone time” for yourself before the day starts.
Pause and Breath
Meditation is a proven method of clearing toxic emotions from our brains. The best thing is that you don’t have to go into 30-minute meditation sessions to get the results you are looking for. You can find your Zen in as little as five minutes. These five minutes can change your life and make you start living with a sense of purpose and direction
Get involved in a mini-meditation series every day. Set aside five minutes to pause (dhyana) and meditate. You will need to sit in a comfortable position and take deep breaths in and out through the nose. You can keep tabs on the time by using a mala (a string of beads) to count the breaths and stay focused.
Finding and keeping your mantra is not difficult if you know what to do. Life can be hectic and even unfair. However, it is also beautiful and rewards those that are in sync with it. Follow the tips above to keep your Zen.
