#FueltheLove #CollectiveBiasMy kids are now 22 and 24. Teaching my kids to drive is when I got my first gray hair. It can be such a stressful time. Every bad scenario goes through my head when they leave. You can only hope and pray they follow all the rules and act responsibly. I made a few rules for them and it seemed to worked out well. They are both great and safe drivers. #FuelTheLove
1. NO Texting and Driving. We have all seen the horrible videos on YouTube of the teen texting and driving. Make sure you kids pull over to text. With all the technology, teens think they have to be connected at all times. There is no text or call that can not wait till you reach your destination.
2. No Distracting Friends. No distracting friends in the car while driving. Distractions ,like goofing off, and loud music can cause fatal accidents. My kids’ friends are all pretty good. They know the rules: no fooling around in the car while driving.
3. NO Drinking and Driving. Obviously, do not give your kids the keys if you know they are going to be drinking. We all know there is so much peer pressure to drink for teens. Make a rule that you will pick your kids up. No questions asked.
4. Hands on the wheel and pay attention at all times. There are always a million things that people do while driving, like eating, drinking, applying makeup, and talking on the phone. It only takes one second to get in an accident. All of these things can wait until you get to where you are going.
5. Keep your car in good running condition. The last thing you want is your child to be stranded with a broken down car. I take my car to the Automotive Care Center at Wal-Mart for oil changes. I always use Pennzoil because of the warranty protection. Pennzoil also offers a free warranty that covers 15 engine parts that may fail due to engine wear or which experience abnormal wear due to friction. *For more information, check out the Pennzoil Warranty Site.*
Pennzoil has many choices like:
Conventional Motor Oil – Good (yellow bottle)
High Mileage Vehicle – Better (goldish/brown bottle – suggested when car mileage is above 75,000)
Platinum (synthetic motor oil) – Best (silver bottle – Now made from natural gas)
When you have two kids who always want to take the car I need to save time and money. Right now Pennzoil is on rollback. From June 10th – September 9th, Pennzoil oil changes will be on Rollback at Wal-Mart Automotive Care Center.
High Mileage $35.88, compared to the regular Wal-Mart price of $39.88. {Industry standard price is $46}
Platinum Full Synthetic $45.88, compared to the regular Wal-Mart price of $49.88. {Industry standard price $66}
I love the convenience of going to Wal-Mart for the oil change. I usually pick up my groceries while I am waiting. Plus I love that I can park right in the back by the Automotive Care Center.
The best feeling is when your kids call you and tell you they arrived safely at their destination. Do you have kids who drive?
My kiddos don’t drive yet, but I am sure I will be just like you when they do. Thanks for sharing your tips, as we all should follow your advice.
