Banoffee Pie is one incredible and layered pie full of banana and caramel flavor. A light and a flavorful crust that is filled with flavors that just melt in your mouth. I used Instant Pot Dulce to really up my flavor game in this pie recipe.

A simple dessert that can take minutes to prepare, offers incredible flavor. If you love bananas and caramel, you will swoon over this banoffee pie recipe. Since I used homemade caramel, it adds such richness to the pie, it sets it apart from the rest.

Banoffee Pie

Banoffee Pie

Banoffee is a traditional British pie recipe that has been around for years. It is a mix of banana and toffee, hence the name. In my case, I use dulce for the base, and it works out splendid. Then you create layers of flavors and top with whipped cream. Slice and serve for all your favorite occasions.

What Type Of Crust Do You Use For Banoffee Pie

Traditionally digestive cookies are used, but if you don’t have access to make your own pie crust using them, reach for graham cracker crust. Or you can reach for a regular pie crust, just bake it accordingly, allow to cool and then assemble the pie. That way your pie crust is fully cooked before adding in the filling since this is a no-bake dessert. Banoffee Pie In Shell

Do You Use Fresh Bananas For Banoffee Pie

Yes. Slice up bananas and then layer them in the bottom of the pie crust. Make sure to reach for ripe bananas, as they are a key component to the pie.

Can I Make Banoffee Pie Ahead of Time

This pie is best when served fresh. If you want you can make it a few hours in advance, but I wouldn’t go any further than that. Since you use fresh bananas, they will begin to go bad rather fast, and you don’t want to serve a mushy mess.

How to Store Banoffee Pie

Banoffee pie needs to be stored in the refrigerator. Cover it with a lid or even aluminum foil and tuck in the fridge. This pie is best when served fresh or within 1-2 days of making it. Each day the bananas will become browner and softer in texture.

What is Dulce de Leche

Dulce de leche is very similar to a caramel sauce, but a lot thicker and offers a creamier texture. I used my Instant Pot to make homemade Dulce de leche, it is crazy simple to do. There are no major steps, and requires one simple ingredient! Sweetened condensed milk and a little time are all you need.

Can You Freeze Banoffee Pie

No, unfortunately, this pie does not freeze well. The banana in the pie is what will make this hard to freeze and thaw properly. The bananas will become overly mushy and offer a different texture and flavor. So it is best to serve fresh, and then toss any that you don’t eat within the time frame before it goes bad.

Do You Use Fresh Whipped Cream For Topping

You can use fresh or make homemade. The choice is totally up to you. I love homemade whipped cream but I have cut corners here and there and used store-bought when I was short on time.
