Yes, this is a no churn ice cream recipe that only takes 10 minutes of prep to mix together. 

What is no churn ice cream?

No churn ice cream is made without an ice cream maker. This ice cream is first mixed and then set in the freezer, rather than sets as it churns. You will not be able to tell the difference between this and ice cream that is made in an ice cream maker.

How do you make Oreo ice cream from scratch? 

To make Oreo ice cream from scratch you will need Oreos, heavy whipping cream, condensed milk, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder. 

What is Oreo Ice cream called?

Oreo ice cream is also called Cookies and Cream ice cream, in this case it would be chocolate cookies and cream ice cream. 

Ingredients:

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1 -14oz can condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

20-25 oreos, crumbled

How to Make Chocolate Oreo Ice Cream

  1. In a large bowl, add heavy whipping cream, use the whisk attachment and then set the speed to medium and beat until soft peaks form, this will take about 4-6  minutes.
  2. Next add condensed milk, vanilla extract, unsweetened cocoa powder and carefully fold all the ingredients. This technique helps give the light and airy texture of ice cream.
  3. Then carefully fold in the crushed oreos leaving about ¼ cup crumbled oreos for the topping.  
  4. In a loaf pan, pour in the ice cream, and top with the crushed oreos,  and then cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for at least 6 hours or best overnight.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Be sure to use a high quality cocoa powder. It really does make a difference in the flavor of the ice cream. 
  • If you want a deeper chocolate flavor and love coffee, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of espresso powder or instant coffee powder. You will love the richness of this ice cream! 
  • Add a little sea salt right before you serve, it brings out the sweetness even more!

You will want to store your ice cream in an airtight container for up to two weeks in the freezer.
