- 1 ½ Cups Whole Milk: Use whole milk or heavy cream not skim milk. Skim milk has fewer calories and fat, but it won’t give the same creamy texture to your dish.
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Fresh ground black pepper
How to make Country Gravy
- Remove all but ½ cup of frying oil from the cast iron pan that was used to fry the steak strips. Or you can use 1/2 cup butter or bacon grease.
- Heat over medium and whisk in the flour.
- Cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes to remove the flour taste.
- Add in the milk, salt, and pepper.
- Whisk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
- Season to taste.
