Rootbeer Chicken Wings
Sweet and savory rootbeer chicken wings will be the highlight of your appetizer table! These rootbeer chicken wings are juicy, flavorful and finger-licking good! Make these wings in your slow cooker or even the Instant Pot!
With the BIG GAME right around the corner, I wanted to try something new. These can be made in the slow cooker or right in the Instant Pot in under 20 minutes.
Rootbeer Chicken Wings
I am the type that loves variety. While I love the classic buffalo chicken, I have to admit I was craving something new. I grabbed my supplies and whipped up these rootbeer chicken wings that instantly became the talk of the evening!
What Brand Of Rootbeer To Use For Rootbeer Chicken Wings
You are welcome to use any brand you enjoy. I just recommend buying a quality rootbeer as it will be one of the main flavors you taste in these wings. I used a Saranac Root Beer. If you can’t find that you can reach for A&W, Barg’s, or any other popular brand of root beer in your area.
Can I Use Frozen Wings for Instant Pot Chicken Wings
Yes! That is the beauty of using your Instant Pot! You can reach for frozen wings, pair all other ingredients in and set the timer and let it cook away. They come out perfect every time. The only thing is with frozen meat in the Instant Pot it takes a longer time to reach pressure. Which doesn’t worry me at all, since it saves me from not thawing meat!
How Do You Get Crispy Skin On Instant Pot Root Beer Wings
Whether you cook these in the Instant Pot or slow cooker you will place them in a baking sheet and toss them under the broiler for a couple of minutes. This is going to crisp up the skins without drying out the meat. Just watch it closely as it will cook up fast, and you don’t want to burn your wings.
Lay the root beer wings out in a single layer without having wings touch. That way you ensure an even cook on all your wings.
Do You Dip Root Beer Wings or Eat them Plain
Either. You could whip up a homemade sauce to dip them in, reach for BBQ sauce or eat them plain. I love a plain root beer wing, but feel free to create whatever sauce you want to pair with them.
When To Serve Root Beer Wings
- Gameday or party appetizer
- Make for dinner with your favorite sides
- Snack for after school or in evening
How Many Wings For One Serving When Serving As Appetizer
You can expect each guest to eat up to four wings when served as an appetizer. If you have a handful of other options this will help cut down how many wings they will devour. I recommend having at least 3-6 other appetizers available to if you are only serving appetizers people feel they can enjoy and get full. Or if serving strictly as an appetizer with the main meal coming up after, you can cut down the number of appetizers served.
