Rice is the one thing I love to make in the instant pot it always turns out perfect whether I’m making my Crack Chicken rice casserole , Stick of Butter Rice, or just plain rice for my Red Beans and Rice; it’s always fluffy and delicious.

There have always been a lot of controversies in the Instant Pot world over how to cook Rice. I have been cooking electric pressure cooker and instant pot rice dishes for many years and have never got the dreaded “burn” message on my rice dishes. Never cook rice on high pressure settings, and I always do a quick release. Let me show you how I do it!

Ingredients for Jasmine Rice

  • Olive Oil
  • Jasmine Rice
  • Water
  • Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker

Step by Step Directions for the perfect Instant pot jasmine rice recipe

Step 1 Add olive oil

Add Olive Oil or vegetable oil to the bottom of your pressure cooker or instant pot. Just enough to coat the bottom of the pot.

Step 2 Add Jasmine Rice

2 Add a cup of Jasmine Rice to the instant pot.

3 Add a cup of water or broth to the instant pot. I like to use plain water if I’m making rice for fried rice, but you can use broth as well.

Step 4 cook on Low pressure

Cook jasmine rice on LOW Pressure, not high pressure, or use the rice setting. That’s the trick to having the perfect fluffy light rice.

Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Instant Pot Jasmine Rice

  • Rinse rice before cooking in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  • Always pour in Rice and Water in that order.
  • Use the low-pressure setting or the rice setting.
  • Do a Quick Release immediately, or the rice will continue cooking and be overcooked.
