Asparagus in the air fryer is the perfect side dish for any meal. Crispy Asparagus with a hint of lemon and black pepper, topped with parmesan takes regular asparagus from ordinary to amazing in just minutes in your air fryer.

This asparagus recipe is the perfect vegetable side dish to go with my Chicken Franchise or French Onion Pot Roast.

Now my husband and I are getting a little older we need to start eating healthier. My husband now has high blood pressure and is a diabetic. As a nurse, I know what to do for my patients but doing it for myself is another thing. We will need to have more vegetables, lean meats, and less junk food this is why my air fryer asparagus recipe is a game-changer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh bunch of Asparagus
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • Zest from 1 Lemon
  • Juice from 1 Lemon
  • ¼ Cup Freshly Shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Teaspoon Fresh Cracked Black Pepper

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Zester
  • Cheese Grater
  • Lemon Juicer
  • Pepper Mill

How to cook Asparagus in the Air Fryer

  1. Trim 1” root end off of the asparagus spears
  2. Using a zester. Zest a lemon, being careful not to get any of the white underneath.
  3. Use the lemon Juicer, juice that same lemon.
  4. Use a Cheese Grater, shred ¼ cup of parmesan cheese.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400℉
  6. Add asparagus to the air fryer basket.
  7. Drizzle with the olive oil, add the zest, lemon juice and half of your shredded parmesan. Reserve the other half for serving.
  8. Sprinkle with the kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper
  9. Cook in the air fryer for 8 minutes. If your asparagus is larger add another 2 minutes.
  10. Remove the asparagus from the air fryer and serve with the reserved shredded parmesan.

How long does it take to reheat asparagus?

You can reheat your asparagus in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 3 minutes because this will bring back the crispy texture and does not lose any of the flavors.

Can I put aluminum foil in the Air Fryer for easier clean-up?

Yes, you can line your air fryer with foil and place the asparagus in the foil but it’s not necessary. It is safe to use foil in the air fryer and makes clean-up a breeze.

Notes

To cook the asparagus in the oven. Preheat oven to 400℉. Place asparagus on a sheet tray with non-stick cooking spray. Add Olive oil, Zest, Lemon Juice, Salt, Pepper and Parmesan Cheese. Cook for 15-20 Minutes.
