How to Make Scalloped Potatoes and Ham 🥔

This is a basic recipe that you might have all the ingredients in your pantry and fridge. Give this dish a try and let me know how the family enjoys it. Here are the directions on how to make this slow cooker scalloped potatoes and ham recipe.

Step 1: Start by washing and prepping your potatoes. I used a Mandoline to slice the potatoes thin and evenly. If you don’t own one you can use a knife just aim to cut all the potatoes the same thickness.

What To Serve With Scalloped Potatoes And Ham

Technically this is a meal in one. But if you want you are more than welcome to pair with some dinner rolls, crisp green salad, steamed or roasted vegetables. Feel free to pair with any and all of your favorite sides.

Are Scalloped Potatoes The Same As Au Gratin

Au gratin and scalloped potatoes are very similar. Au gratin tends to be topped with cheddar cheese and offers a breadcrumb topping. Scalloped potatoes have a cream sauce. They don’t contain cheese products.

Both of these potato recipes are delicious. Some interchange the name. No matter what you call it these potatoes are both great recipes to make.

Ham and cheese recipes are always welcome in our household.

Storing Leftover Scalloped Potatoes

If you have leftovers you will want to place in a proper container and store in the refrigerator. This recipe will store for around three days in the fridge. You can warm up in the microwave for a quick reheat or cover with aluminum foil and warm up in the oven in a baking dish.

Unfortunately, this dish does not freeze well due to the creamy based sauce. Therefore only make what you know you can eat before going bad.

Of course, if you want to sprinkle cheese on top of your scalloped potatoes go right ahead when reheating.
