Why Is It Called Mississippi Pot Roast
Someone who lived in Mississippi created this recipe years ago. She called it a pot roast, but it quickly spread through her area and people began referring to it as the Mississippi roast, and that is how it got its name.
This is one of the best pot roast we have had. Tons of flavor in every bite.
How To Serve
There are so many ways you can serve up this roast. Serve over a bed of mashed potatoes, rice, or pile it on a bun and make it into a sandwich.
You can add a bit more of the pepperoncini peppers if you want added flavor. I find the pepperoncini juice also gives this dish more flavor.

Is This Is This Mississippi Roast Crock Pot Version Spicy
There is some heat to this recipe. But, you can buy mild peppers to use, and that will tame the spice right now.
They come in mild, medium and hot. I will say the hot peppers really do pack a punch so be prepared if you reach for the jar of hot.
What Is The Best Cut Of Roast For Pot Roast
There are so many cuts of roast that you could buy and use for making pot roast. When I use my crock pot I love to reach for a chuck roast. The marble of fat on a chuck roast really helps add incredible flavor to the meat.
You will sear the meat on all sides. This step can be skipped but you will find it lacks a bit of flavor in the end. The sear really helps offer incredible texture to the pot roast along with flavoring that you will enjoy.

Why Is My Pot Roast So Tough
If you find your pot roast is tough, there is one reason. You need to cook the roast longer. Crock pot roast should result in a super tender and juicy roast.
Make sure as your roast cooks it has enough liquid. Then all you need to do it let it cook until the roast becomes tender. This is a great recipe and the crock pot does all the work.
The cooking time can vary depending on the size of your pot roast, how your crock pot heats. Some crock pots cook differently than others.
