Tips & Tricks
- Preheat Your Air Fryer: Just like with an oven, preheating your air fryer ensures that the naan bread cooks evenly and thoroughly.
- Use Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt works best for this recipe because of its thick consistency, which helps create a soft and fluffy texture in the naan bread.
- Be Gentle with the Dough: Avoid overworking the dough, as this can result in tough naan bread. Mix until just combined and handle the dough gently when shaping and rolling it out.
- Don’t Skip the Resting Time: Allowing the dough to rest for a few minutes after mixing helps relax the gluten, making it easier to roll out and resulting in a softer texture.
- Flour Your Surface and Rolling Pin: Prevent the dough from sticking by generously flouring your work surface and rolling pin before rolling out the naan bread.
- Adjust Cooking Time as Needed: Air fryers can vary in temperature and power, so keep an eye on your naan bread as it cooks and adjust the cooking time if necessary to prevent burning or undercooking.
- Experiment with Flavors: Feel free to customize your naan bread by adding herbs, spices, or other flavorings to the dough. Garlic, cilantro, cumin, and nigella seeds are popular options.
- Keep it Thin: Roll the dough out to a thin, even thickness for the best results. Thicker dough may not cook through properly and could result in a dense texture.
- Avoid Overcrowding: Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the naan bread in batches to prevent overcrowding, which can lead to uneven cooking.
- Brush with Butter or Oil: For added flavor and moisture, brush the cooked naan bread with melted butter, ghee, or olive oil as soon as it comes out of the air fryer.
By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to making perfect air fryer naan bread every time!

Gotta try this!
Can I use perforated parchment paper instead of spraying with oil?
Does it matter the fat content of the greek yogurt? Always surprised when this isn’t included in a recipe. Thanks
Can the naan bread be frozen
Just made these but the mix was like a batter! Had to add a further almost 1/2 cup of flour to get to a dough and sticky at that.
After cooking, the naan were great though.
So I try this recipe this morning and unfortunately I have no idea what I did but it did not puff up. Still tasted good but not puffing up was very disappointing. I did use a gluten-free flour and added baking powder and salt as I know, those are the pieces for the self rising, but I’m not sure what I did.
sorry I never tried using gluten free flour.
20 minute cook time is waaaaaaaay too long. These turned into crackers. Second batch was done perfectly at 7 minutes. I have a Vortex Plus.
Good recipe. Oops.. made dough with AP flour first by not reading recipe properly. Let that batch rest and added baking powder to second lot. Both batches browned and puffed up in the air fryer at 200C. I used zero % Greek yogurt. Thank you!
