7 Minute Instant Pot Hamburger Lasagna Hamburger Helper

While spring should be here, we are still struggling with the cold weather here and there. I think mother nature is not so sure about what season we are supposed to be in. The other day we were getting over a cold spell and I was craving something nice and hearty, that would warm you up from the inside, and this homemade lasagna Hamburger Helper came to mind.

I have been making this for awhile, and it is always such a hit. This is a similar style to the boxed Hamburger Helper Lasagna, but to me, it tastes more flavorful and of course homemade.

Pasta Sauce For Hamburger Helper Lasagna

As for the pasta sauce, you can use homemade sauce or buy your favorite brand. I tend to fluctuate on what is on sale, and rotate between brands we prefer. But if I see a new brand or style I am always up for trying it out.

A few years back we made a huge batch of homemade pasta sauce with fresh tomatoes out of the garden and it was delightful. While I love homemade pasta sauce, I don’t always have the time nor the energy to do it. So the jar works just as good for me!

Can you make Instant Pot Homemade Lasagna Hamburger Helper without milk?

My Instant Pot version of Hamburger Helper lasagna doesn’t require milk. The ricotta cheese does a great job of giving it that creamy texture without needing milk like the boxed version.

Best Pasta To Use For Instant Pot Homemade Lasagna Hamburger Helper

I used ruffled pasta for this recipe, but you are welcome to use what you have on hand. Rigatoni, elbow, shells, they all work really well. I don’t really recommend spaghetti noodles but it would work if that is all you have.

Will Cottage Cheese Work To Replace Ricotta in Instant Pot Hamburger Helper Lasagna

You either love ricotta cheese or you don’t. If you are not a fan of ricotta you can replace it with cottage cheese and you still get that cheesy and creamy texture.

With a recipe like this who needs boxed! Try my Instant Pot Hamburger Helper Lasagna today, and see how incredible the flavor is and the prep is a breeze!

Pair with a crisp green salad, garlic bread, and dinner is served. Easy peasy, and tasty!

Question: do you drain or in some way remove the fat that cooked out of the meat once it is browned?

  3. Made this tonight. I added more meat. I used 24 oz spaghetti sauce and 1/2 of that with water. I also only used 1/2 the box of noodles (we don’t like a lot of noodles.) it was fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

  6. This would be perfect for the Ninja Foodi. Pressure cook and then broil to brown the cheese, all in one pot.

  7. How would you recommend reheating after being frozen? the recipe is far too much for my husband and myself.

    Thanks.

  8. Made in the ninja foodi. Sauteed 1 pound thawed ground beef (was going to do half sausage half beef but didnt have sausage on hand). Added 12 oz bag wide egg noodles, 24 oz jar sauce, filled the same jar with water (little less than the 24oz) and cooked high pressure 5 minutes with quick release, let it keep warm while i added 4oz shredded mozzarella and almost a whole 16 oz container of cottage cheese (my family doesn’t like ricotta). Mixed it and topped it with more shredded cheese. Broiled for 3 minutes so cheese was melted on top. Amazing! And i swear done within 15 minutes. This is a dish that used to take me much longer and a lot more pots and pans. Ninja foodi is life changing

  11. Making this tonight but without the ruffles pasta as our store does not carry this type of pasta so using farfalle instead.

  12. Just made this – couldn’t have been easier! It was so delicious I had to force myself to stop eating it. The only changes I made to the recipe (because of what I had on hand) were using a pound of ground beef (no sausage), doubling the ricotta, halving the mozzarella, and adding salt at the end. If I made it again, I might add some Italian herbs. This recipe is a keeper!
