Irish Soda bread made in the air fryer is slightly a sweet bread made with raisins and has a biscuit-like texture that is moist inside and crumbly outside, Then topped with your favorite jam or butter. The best part it’s an easy no-yeast bread.
Everyone is Irish on St. Patricks Day so, this year I wanted to make all my favorite Irish foods like my Instant Pot Corned Beef and Cabbage ,Southern Fried Cabbage, St. Patrick’s Day Crack and maybe some green beer to wash it all down.
Why not try out something new like the traditional Irish Soda bread but with a twist in the air fryer? Let me tell you it was so good I don’t know why I waited so long! The Biscuit crust with the raisins topped with some berry jam was absolutely delicious.

What do I need to get Started?
Ingredients
- 4 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 6 Tablespoons Butter, Slightly Softened
- ½ Cup Golden Raisins
- ½ Cup Dried Cranberries
- 1 Large Egg, Beaten
- 1 ¾ Cups Buttermilk
- Cooking Spray

- 7in Cake Pan or Spring Form Pan
- Pastry Blender
How to make air fryer Irish Soda Bread:
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk 4 ½ cups of flour together with the sugar, salt, and baking soda.
- Using a pastry blender or your hands, work the butter into the flour until coarse.
- Stir in the raisins and cranberries.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add in the beaten egg and buttermilk and mix with a wooden spoon. The dough should become stiff but still slightly sticky.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and split in half, shape into two round loaves.
- Transfer the dough into lightly greased 7in cake pans or spring form pans. Using a sharp knife, score each dough with an “X” on top. This helps for even cooking.
- Preheat the air fryer to 320℉.
- Cook each dough one at a time for 20-25 minutes.
- To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the loaf. If it comes out clean, then it is done.
- Remove from cake pans and let rest on a cooking rack for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the bread warm or at room temperature. Optional spreads: Butter, Honey, Jams or Jellies.
Chef Tips and Tricks
Buttermilk Substitution, add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice or white vinegar to 1¾ cup of whole milk. Stir and let sit for a few minutes.
Using the springform pan is optional. You can line the air fryer with foil or parchment paper if you do not have a springform pan.
Scoring the bread helps the bread to cook evenly.
I do not recommend storing the bread in the refrigerator. It is best eaten freshly baked that day.

This bread can be eaten right out of the oven plain but I like to add butter or jam to mine. You can also top with honey.
Store in an air tight container.
I do not recommend storing the bread in the refrigerator. It is best eaten freshly baked that day.
You can however store it in the freezer by wrapping several times with plastic wrap and then covering with foil, up to 2 months in the freezer.
